From oscillatory to non-oscillatory disturbances: A comparative review of root cause analysis methods

This paper reviews existing data-driven methods according to three criteria: the properties of method, impact systems through which disturbance propagates on results and types disturbances covered by method. The comparative review is used derive guidelines for Root Cause Analysis (RCA) oscillatory non-oscillatory in industrial processes. In particular, it suggests an approach RCA transient based detection disturbances. targeting primarily engineers working Fault Detection Diagnosis (FDD). provide tools speed up work process engineer troubleshooting abnormal situation, should help selecting appropriate methods. It intended as a tool increase awareness understanding promote their use. focus answers need automate or facilitate processes machinery that was observed authors during discussions with service engineers.
